prototype being ollie is deranged because it means he was terrorizing the toys of safe haven on purpose for the fun of it when he could have killed them at any time. he also created an extremely close emotional bond with poppy for OVER A DECADE just to tear it all away from her at the end and tell her it was meaningless (he then proceeds to taunt her over the phone abt it). bro is LITERALLY TROLLING

you cant tell me that final scene w the "ive got something special in mind. i prepared it just for you, and this time you'll never want to leave." isnt some tom and jerry shit

ABT PROTOTYPE REVEALING HIMSELF AS OLLIE... (the long explanation)

we ALL knew he was ollie, but i don't think people are seeing the point of this reveal. it wasn't about revealing himself to us the player, it's about the implications that arise from it. he had been playing both sides for 10+ YEARS. that's deranged enough but not even CLOSE to the end of it

as ollie he had emotionally supported poppy in her lowest moments (as heard in the ollie and poppy tape). this tape also insinuates that (at least around the time it was recorded) the two of them called frequently, possibly every night. he wasn't just pretending to be everyone's ally, he was PRETENDING TO BE THEIR CLOSEST FRIEND THAT THEY COULD VENT TO 😭 he heard this poor girl sob into the phone and tell him about how she felt her humanity being taken from her, AND HE KEPT UP THE CHARADE AND COMFORTED HER, KNOWING THIS PATH HAD BAD INTENTIONS

what's worse than all of that, though, is that him being ollie means that at any time in the last 10 years he could have used the persona to force his way into safe haven. AT ANY TIME HE COULD HAVE KILLED THEM ALL. HE COULD SIMPLY USE THE OLLIE VOICE AND ASK THEM TO OPEN THE DOOR. why is this worse, you ask? because HE WAS LITERALLY TERRORIZING THEM ON PURPOSE.

think about the note in the cart/cave area. a toy from safe haven writes that prototype was right outside the door the night before, he'd gotten past the traps and was just tapping on the wall and staring. they said after he was gone they still felt they could hear it. HE IS LITERALLY BEING SCARY ON PURPOSE???? LEGIT TRAUMATIZING THEM AND FOR NO REASON. HE COULD GET IN THERE, HE'S SIMPLY CHOOSING TO MAKE THEIR LIVES HELL

so thats crazy.. BUT ALSO THE ENDING? in the poppy and ollie tape he says "im right here, poppy. for you. i'll always be here." AND AT THE END OF THE GAME, WHEN POPPY ASKS WHAT HE DID WITH OLLIE, HE SAYS THAT. you know what that means? that means he said that shit to her ALL THE TIME. clearly only the two of them would be familiar with the phrase which is why after he said it, she immediately knew he was ollie the whole time

i feel bad for poppy. she ran off but she was valid for that. all her friends from safe haven are dead, the only ones left are the player, kissy and ollie, but she soon realizes that ollie is WORSE than dead. he is LITERALLY HER ENEMY. the thousands of conversations they had, probably hundreds of times she vented and told him her plans and discussed her life with him? ALL FOR NOTHING. any time she thought she was winning the past 10 years was a lie, she was ALWAYS LOSING because he was GETTING ALL THE INFO FROM THEM. she genuinely never had a chance and i think she realized that

in her dialogue you can tell she's grieving ollie (obviously he IS prototype, but i think she's grieving the thought of him). saying "you lied to me" to the prototype of all people is absurd (considering he's done far worse than lie) but when you think about how she feels, it makes sense.

also the part where she said "this isn't right". again, a weird thing to say to him of all people, but if you put yourself in her shoes she's grieving the friend she thought she had, and she's struggling to grapple with the fact that it all meant nothing. somewhere in her mind she believes "ollie" as a personality is there somewhere, because how could someone be that close with you and mean none of it? she thinks that voicing this pain he's inflicted will change his mind, but it won't. and that's why it's genuinely really sad. that's why she asks if there was ever an ollie. i don't think she meant it literally, and i don't think his answer was literal either. she didn't mean "were you a mf named ollie once" she meant it like "was our friendship ever genuine?" which makes his response both heartbreaking and interesting.

so not only is her world shattered now, most of her friends are dead and the one who wasn't turned out to be her opp, but now he's TAUNTING HER OVER THE PHONE AND THREATENING HER. nice one... (loved the quip after she ran off btw. that shit was hilarious. like bro u made her crash out and went "some friend, huh?" YOU CANT SAY THAT BRO)

anyway think of it from her perspective: everyone you knew is gone, and soon the only 2 people that remain will be too. you can't run, or hide, or do anything. he WILL find you, and when he does he'll lock you away FOREVER where NOBODY WILL BE LEFT TO SAVE YOU. I WOULD RUN TOO.............. plus her running off probably led him away so.. she saved us sorta.

ALL THAT TO SAY THAT I REALLY LIKE THE OLLIE REVEAL FOR REASONS FAR BEYOND A SIMPLE TWIST. him being ollie for over a decade raises many many questions, and suggests very dark things.

hes crazy and the fact he did a monologue means he knows he won. he wouldn't have spilled the beans otherwise...

looking @ all of this godtier stuff, i wanna say i dont rlly think classpecting is all that. it's a fun analytical tool for exploring a character's themeing and role in a narrative. but it's fundamentally impossible to assign an "arc" 2 a living person, & within sburb itself the godtier system has a very questionable view of what its characters arcs mean/should be. like. you can 100% interpret classpects as bullshit within the text.

that being said, again, they're still a fun narrative tool to bring outside of homestuck itself, & if you remove them from the intelligence/structure of SBURB they are rlly fun for vibes-based introspection. they aren't made up of nothing, they have clear inspiration & meaning to hussie.

i view classes like roles in a play. anyone can pick any of them for any reason, multiple at different times even, but you only know for sure if one fits you by playing it. my perspective on it is rly close to funk mclovin's theory.

i view aspects as a bit more immutable bc i feel like they speak to more core traits rather than the shit u operationalise, which is much more up to personal choice.

i have always felt a distinct calling to the space aspect, for well over a decade. i relate heavily to a lot of the core themes it portrays. i could ramble for ages abt that, legit.

the course of picking "witch" has been a progression to me. "seer" encapsulates how i am/was when trapped in passivity both internally & externally. relegated to a problem solver, advice friend, helper. a role which i perform well but am deeply unfulfilled & drained in.

the "witch" class encapsulates my fundamental need to have my own autonomy, function, control, freedoms in my life for myself & not for others. that is ultimately what i desire to be, & i feel that the "witch" encapsulates it well. i also fuck heavily with the archetypal "lonesome magician who is feared & revered for their wisdome and power" character. kid me would've fuckin *loved* being a wicked witchman.

like, i think it's worthwhile to work backwards from what you think of yourself & *then* put the godtier jammies on. bc fundamentally it is impossible to put humanity in all these little boxes, especially when we don't have enough evidence to prove the true validity of those boxes or their limitations. & they purely operate within the limitations of a piece of fiction made by one person.

this is why, although i don't put much stock in the actual system of classpects, my classpect is deeply personal to me. bc it culminates from extensive introspection. i also find it incredibly interesting 2 see how others classpect themselves, bc it is a fundamental expression of the self to place yourself in these grids, & *requires* personal interpretation of the system by a means that *also* says something about you as a person. like, it's a net gain if you're interested in how people live their lives & define themselves, which i am.

Honestly to each their own opinion but Lin had legit reasons to dislike Su and act the way she did and hating Lin ain’t it for me. Su showed on numerous occasions when we first meet her that she didn’t really change and shows her true colors when poked and said those nasty stuff to Lin about “this is why tenzin broke up with you” or whatever that was. Nobody who “grew and changed” who cares about being a respectful person would say that , especially not to their estranged sibling that is suffering. Lin being under any obligation to forgive or move onto from what Su did just because it’s happened years ago is some “family should be forgiven and bad actions of family should be excused no matter what bull” sorry but as somebody with half siblings whose situation is kinda different from Lin and Su yet similar enough especially with the forced “you are siblings you have to love each other” bull shoved by family that backfired between my siblings without me even being involved , I honestly wanna say stop hating on Lin so much she had valid reasons and you are minimizing her suffering and reinforcing that we should put up with certain shit just because family is involved .

Honest I've seen this take multiple times over the years in the fandom and I'm just too tired to formulate a full response.

I just wanna remind you that the "no wonder Tenzin broke up with you" comment (while Awful) is a literal last straw after Lin made multiple shitty comments of her own, made Suyin's teenage daughter cry among others. Someone pushing back after you've spent around 48 hours pushing and prodding at them isn't really the cardinal sin people make it out to be. Especially when Su openly offered to talk to Lin about their issues multiple times.

Look. I have went through some shit in my life, I'm estranged from several family members myself. I don't give a fuck about the whole "family is family, excuse them no matter what" shit.

I don't give a fuck about Lin and Su making up because they are sisters. I give a fuck about a grownass middle aged woman beefing with a 16 year old that no longer exists and taking it out on her surroundings.

Like, ultimately, we interpret media in our own way, and, as much as we try to be objective, we are biased by our own experiences. Interpret Lin and Suyin's relationship how you want.

I think it's good for Lin because she obviously had a wound she wasn't allowing to heal. If she could heal it by being estranged from Su, good. She didn't, but tlok went out of its way to show her being healthier and happier after she made up with Su. She obviously had valid resons to be mad at Su, I've stated this before. This is not an excuse for her behaviour in the Zaofu arc, in my eyes.

Lin isn't my favourite character, I won't pretend she is. But I actually like her as she is written. I'm just tired of the fandom woobifying the shit out of her and treating her character the same way you would treat an angsty teen.

I LOVE this question, and as a recent Baki fan myself, I can tell you that getting into the series as a Western consumer can be rough if you don’t have a basic guide to know what you’re getting into…. so that’s what I’m gonna make this post (TEEHEE).

This series has gotta be one of the most insane shonen- actually no- one of the most INSANE PIECES OF FICTION I've ever experienced, and I NEED more people to check it out. Like, LOOK AT THIS SHIT DUDE.

Baki out of context somehow even puts Jojo's Bizarre Adventure to shame. The way I usually pitch it to people is that Baki is as insane as people THINK Jojo is before they read it. Shit is just... MAN LMAO. OBAMA IS FUCKING IN THIS.

Unlike more popular stuff like Dragon Ball and Hunter x Hunter, a lot of this series has just never been officially localized, so knowing where to start, and even how to support the series, is a hard task if you don’t know what you’re doing.

Thankfully THAT’S WHAT YOU HAVE ME FOR. This Tumblr post is gonna be your one stop shop for how to get into Baki as an English speaker (and it’ll give me some space to ramble about one of my latest favorite series).

But uh before we get into the nitty gritty, wanna put some trigger warnings for the series for those who may want to know. Listen, I know how some of these are gonna look to the average person, but this series just be like that sometimes, if you can’t take stuff like this trust me it’s insanely valid. You’ll understand if you choose to take the plunge.

SERIES TRIGGER WARNINGS:

Animated Blood/Violence, some animated gory imagery, Incest (???), Nudity, Urine stuff, Bigfoot/Animal Violence, Death, Uncomfortable looking muscles, and one instance of sexual violence (offscreen)

If you are comfortable with all that (and again, valid as fuck if you aren’t) then let’s talk BAKI!

First off, Manga or Anime?

You would think that either would be fine, but my personal recommendation for Baki as a beginner, is to watch the anime over reading the manga. Simply put: The anime is a lot more widely available and accessible in English speaking territories, and is fairly easy to support officially with its current iteration.

For whatever reason, the manga just never really took off in the West when compared to other series, so it was only ever officially released in English a handful of times, and they only ended up publishing the first few volumes. Theoretically, you can read the first few books to start, but the entire series all together is legit longer than One Piece at a whopping 1,203 chapters, so you are gonna run out of material real quick. The fraction of officially available manga barely scratches the surface of the series.

Even if you’re stubborn about reading the manga and want to try reading fan translations, they come with their own separate batch of issues. Plenty of fan scans you can find online range from wildly outdated, to generally being poor quality at best. There’s even some fan translations that just straight up make shit up and don’t even properly translate the original script. Adding in extra dialogue and slurs randomly to make the text seem way edgier than it actually is.

Full disclosure, I wanna cut through my bias here and say that there are indeed some great scans available on the internet if you look hard enough, especially for the more recent content! But they aren’t super easy to track down with how the series is formatted, and you may accidentally find yourself reading the story out of its proper order.

The watch/read order of Baki is a bit of a toughie for new people, but is actually pretty simple once it’s explained. The story of Baki is split up into multiple different series, kind of similar in format to Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. Though instead of “Parts”, Baki is split up into completely different manga and TV series. This is why many fans get confused initially, especially with the watch order, because it isn’t laid out in an easy to understand way at first glance.

The most well known series are currently streaming on Netflix, but those aren’t the ones you wanna start with. Nope, the story of the Baki anime actually starts way back in 2001, in a TV show that isn’t streaming officially online. Now if you want to watch out of order, I’m not gonna stop you. You can do whatever you want, by all means, but you’re gonna be missing some VERY important story context, and some characters just won’t hold the same weight.

So if you DO want to watch in order, come with me my friend. Let me show you-

BAKI’S SUPER COOL AND NOT AT ALL CONFUSING WATCH ORDER:

Baki the Grappler (2001) (24 episodes)

This is the original 2001 anime adaptation, the very start of serialized Baki anime. You’re gonna wanna start here trust me.

This series isn’t streaming anywhere officially online, but you can find it… places. Seek it out, trust me, because otherwise you’re gonna pay way too much for out of print DVDs on Ebay. Thankfully though you have options! The series is both subbed and dubbed (as well as every series I discuss from this point forward.

This show is the very start of serialized Baki anime, the very beginning of Baki Hanma’s story. Although it’s not in the way you may think. Despite this being the earliest point in the Baki timeline, it’s actually an adaptation of a later story arc from the manga.

Now I know what you’re thinking, “Didn’t you just say this is where I should start? Why is it adapting something from later in the story?”, and yeah it’s valid to be confused. While yes this is the first ever Baki anime, for some reason the staff behind it made the decision to move this later arc up a bit from the original manga. In my honest opinion, I feel like this is actually a great decision.

As you will see as you watch, this honestly FEELS like this should be where the story begins. The escalation of power and storytelling from this point onward feels very natural, and you won’t miss out on anything or spoil yourself whatsoever on later events.

This is the de facto best starting point.

Grappler Baki Maximum Tournament (2001) (24 episodes)

This is effectively the second season of Baki the Grappler. For whatever reason they decided to title it something else, and while this is the norm for the series later on, this name change is weird because it adapts an arc from the original manga just like the first season of anime I just talked about.

Whatever lol.

Anyway this series, much like the previous, isn’t officially available as of now. So your best option is to SEARCH for it. SEARCH on the INTERNET. Or y’know. The good ol’ expensive out of print DVD on Ebay route.

In my opinion, compared to the first season, this one feels a bit slower paced and a bit of a slog at points but HOLD STRONG TRUE BELIEVER. This season is the introduction to a lot of mainstay characters in the series. Many of which you will come to love, even if you don’t know it yet.

BAKI (2018) (39 episodes) (NETFLIX)

This is the modern adaptation of Baki. After the last series ended in 2001, the anime went on hiatus for 17 years before it was announced that it would be coming back with a modern coat of paint.

Contrary to what you may think, this isn’t a ground up reboot. It’s a continuation of the exact point they left off years ago, right after the Maximum tournament. The only thing that kind of sucks about this is that, at least for the English dub, they replaced most of the voice cast. Most of the new VAs do a great job, however you may need to get used to Yujiro Hanma having Shadow the Hedgehog’s modern VA from the games haha.

Thankfully, you can officially support this series easily via Netflix. Normally I’m pretty eh on Netflix as of late, but this being the only way you can support the show officially in the west, I personally recommend it.

Baki Hanma (2023) (39 episodes) (NETFLIX)

This is the most recent anime! It’s also on Netflix.

Anyway, this is my list! If after you catch up you wanna hop into the manga and read the fan scans, I’ve heard that you can start on Baki Hanma/Baki Son of Ogre (chapter 183).

Like I said, I've been watching the series with friends on Discord every night or so when we're free and MAN. Baki is fucking AMAZING WITH FRIENDS. It just never slows down after a certain point, and it just gets stranger and crazier.

Not so little rant about wrong accusations of dottore utc, if you don't wanna read about S/A mentions feel free to ignore what's under the cut.

And another thing most people don't seem to grasp is the fact that he NEVER S/A'd Collei. Not once has it been stated or implied that he has. He's known for CRUEL EXPERIMENTS. I'm not quite sure how the rumor that he assaulted Collei even started, but it's not even remotely factual. Even so, he cured Collei AND experimented on her. LET ME REITERATE, HE'S NEVER S/A'D COLLEI. He never did; people just like to make up reasons to further their hatred for Dottore and his stans. Tbh, it’s more of people act like a hive mind than them making their own decisions. They probably saw one post from an anti saying that Dottore assaulted her and that they should hate Dottore and now everyone echoes the same reason. Dottore isn’t a problematic villain; he’s just a villain. Which again, I don’t get why they make up shit that isn't stated by the game or its mangas. because without an actual villain genshin would be boring. Everyone always complains how “baby” this game is but when a villain comes along that’s actually evil, everyone suddenly hates it, and throws around false claims that arent true. HOWEVER, Dottore never had an onscreen interaction with her and never mentions her both in game and webtoon. But, Collei's connection with Dottore is the only thing a select few are pinning their focus on, they are legit mad the story moved past her trauma and now Collei is... just a girl trying to grow up, with a few side effects from the didease she used to have. She is shy, anxious, and not as important as she was in webtoon, which I believe is a part of reason the why some people are so hyper-fixated on Dottore, and bounce around infactual accusations. This type of thing is nothing new: so long as a character who is morally gray or morally “wrong” exists, people will come up with reasons (canon or otherwise) to hate them and shame people for liking them, which is asinine might I add. Collei has only one mention of him in her voicelines, saying that she was sent to him to cure her Eleazar. Collei doesn't mention him in her character stories, nor she talked about him in any event or quest. Same for the manga. The only people at fault are always or abstract "fatui", or Barnabas.

There are a lot of interesting moments around her cure. As we know, she was injected with god's resedue (GR). Pulling from reddit, In the Baizhu story quest, GR was used as a cure, and at the end (after the twist), it was portrayed as a last-resort-ish medicine. So now we have two instances of using GR as a somewhat valid cure. An ending of the webtoon is implying that Webtorre disposed of Barnabas, who was responsible for experiments on Collei, and Omega build later erased Webtorre. But this plot point is such a sheer horror for people, who expect that their fav will be relevant 'til Celestia chapters, they you rarely see it being aknowledged, let alone accepted. Dottore is a villain. It's not a diabolical, evil one. Just a villain to the plot, A well written one at that.

Winx Season 9/Reboot Leaks

Okay here's the tea: earlier today a twitter user by the name of Cataclysm_Power started posting a video they claimed was from the new Winx season/reboot. When pressed for further information, they linked to a telegram chat with what appeared to be assets from Rainbow (17 screenshots/2 videos). After some C-grade internet sleuthing, I am here to give my (worthless and possibly wrong) opinion on which ones I think are real and fake.

A note before we jump in: I'm not posting full images on my blog, because again I do think some of these are real and if the leaker is to be believed, they hacked Rainbow to get them. You can look yourself through the telegram link, or others who've posted them on the Winx Club tag. I also think the leaker themselves is scammy because they've tried charging for Miraculous leaks before. Do NOT give them any money if they ask.

Real: Bloom, Stella, and Icy's asset sheets, Bloom Full Body Pose

A lot of these leaks are 3d modelling assets, and these 3 are the ones I'm totally convinced are real.

The biggest clue of their validity is the bottom banner. All 3 sheets have them, along with the same episode code and notes in Italian. They're all also linked to the same person: Pasqualino Masciulli is Rainbow's 3D modelling supervisor, and has been with the company for at least 9 years. He's done videos on Rainbow's youtube channel as well, using his shortened first name Lino. My main point is that's way too niche for someone to fake just to make some convincing leaks, and it would make sense for the assets to be tied to him.

Likewise, there's a full-body frame post of Bloom with fucking ugliest denim leg warmers credited to a g.riccobono. This is likely Giulio Riccobono, who is listed on Linkedin Italy as a Rainbow employee.

Probably Real: Tecna's asset sheet, Bloom's detailed asset sheet

Both of these are likely real but have weird things about them that make me pause. Bloom's more detailed asset sheet is missing the name, date and episode reference on it, and the notes are in English. Tecna's is missing the bottom banner entirely, and there's some weird cutting around her head that makes it look like someone hastily made a png and stuck it on there.

Unsure: Computer File Tab, MD Concept Photos, Videos

There's a screenshot of a folder with both 2D and 3D assets of all the girls. in the files. I'm not sure if this is from a computer at Rainbow or the hacker's personal folder, so it goes in unsure. I do think most of the assets in it are real - it's low res but the eyes on the 2D sketches are so similar to the ones on Rainbow's newer images of the girls I think they have to be connected.

There are also some full body concept photos for Bloom, Aisha, and Stella. They all look pretty legit (as they're updated version of images we've already seen) but Stella's has other images for 'possible pallets' included. She's the only one with it and the images look like they came from a flash dress-up game, and it gives me pause.

Lastly, the teaser videos of Bloom are probably real based on the outfit, animation and that stupid fucking Bloom shelf being in the background, but I'm placing it in 'unsure' because of the bandicam.com logo burned into the top. If it really came from Rainbow and everything else was downloaded, there was no reason for the hacker to not get the raw file. I think it's real, but I don't know if it came from Rainbow.

Something Ain't Right: Group Shot

What gives me pause in the fully-rendered group shot (even though its shown in the computer file tab) is it shows transformation we haven't seen teased and has a 'Lorem Ipsum' placeholder text. Aisha's hair also looks like it was done with AI - the back of her wings clip through the hair, and parts of it look copy-pasted. I'm stupid, it's the end of her braids. The 'Lorem Ipsum' thing still stands, but I'm re-filing this under 'unsure.'

Probably Fake: Darcy and Damien's asset sheets

I'm showing things from here on out because I'm so convinced it's fake please let me be right. Unlike the other character sheets, the ones for Darcy and 'new character' Damien have no bottom banner, are marked as 'Winx Club Season 9' with an outdated Winx logo, and have notes written completely in English. Darcy's has a bit of 3D modelling, but it's too different from Icy's. Maybe they're super early concepts for Darcy, but Damien...go home, buddy.

You're in the Wrong Place: Rainbow Pants Girl

I'm convinced this girl is from a different show and was saved to the 'Winx Club' folder by accident. Different clothing, hair, and shading. May you end up somewhere better than this reboot, Mystery Girl.

Soooo I woke up to this pic of a script of a possible JJ’s revival scene being all over social media going around in the fandom, ALLEGEDLY being spread by a friend of Cooper Pate (Jonas Pate’s son) who shared it with his friends and there’s a couple of things I wanna say about it.

Not to rain on anyone’s parade and ruin the party, I’m the first one that would want to see JJ in season 5 (literally the only way I’d watch S5) and I don’t think it’s a secret at all how vocal I’ve been in my disappointment, but first and foremost my biggest advice to the fandom would be to not be so gullible over everything that is put on the internet, especially when the source is vague and unreliable.

Realistically in this case in particular there are way more reasons for this to be fake than being real.

1. Although yes, this looks like a proper and valid page taken from a script because of its font/structure/language and it looks like a real picture of a page sitting on a desk, it can still be something that anyone could do. All you need is a quick search on Google typing “script page examples” and you have these exact type of documents that ANYONE with a laptop, a printer and a pen can recreate on their own (also this coincidentally happened a few days after the pilot’s script was all over Twitter all over again)… you’d be surprised by the lengths people would go to spread false rumors and to troll people on the internet just out of pure entertainment and self enjoyment. Remember when the show was in the midst of season 3 production and someone spread this picture that we all went wild about FOR MONTHS? Only to later discover that it was a behind the scenes taken from an entirely different show and accurately edited by someone just to troll the fans. So yeah, people are bored and have time to waste, especially during the holidays.

2. THIS precise description doesn’t make any sense with the season 4 finale. By the looks of it, the part above where it seems like the Pogues have just made it back to Kildare, it seems like it’s supposedly the season 5 pilot or at least one of the firsts episodes (considering they haven’t even finished writing the season as of now) meaning that in this scene described here JJ is still exactly where they left him and it’s being described as if his body is getting uncovered by the wind blowing the sand away, this is the body reveal…SO WHY IS THE CROWN THERE? We’ve speculated a lot about the crown and we know it’s the only way to bring him back, but the Pogues didn’t have the crown and JJ didn’t have the crown, Chandler Groff did and he ran away with it so only Groff could be the one to go put it on JJ’s head and therefore having to dig his body out. This scene written here instead is making it seems as if JJ was buried with the crown and his body coming back alive is being uncovered by the sand blowing away. It doesn’t connect with the final scene of S4, either he was buried with the crown and the sand blows away or Groff put it on him but he’d have to be the one digging him out.

3. Let’s just say this picture is actually legit, this is truly a piece of the Outer Banks script, written by the Pates and Burke, sitting on Jonas Pate desk that his son Cooper went to take a picture of and sent it to his group of friends, this is original and 100% real… still who’s to say this is from season 5? We know they had multiple endings for S4 and allegedly even shot multiple variations of it, this could easily be the script for one of those alternative endings in case Rudy Pankow decided to not leave the show, after all “cut to black” is for sure one big cliffhanger and it would’ve been a callback to S1 when the Pogues believed John B and Sarah to be dead but then we saw them alive. CONVENIENTLY this picture was spread on the internet with this top part being censored…the part of the page where the numbers of scene, episode and season are supposed to be along with the title of the episode.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, JJ being back somehow will be the only way for me to watch season 5 and I’m the first one who wants to see it happening and foolishly hopes for it, but we need to be careful with both what gets spread online and with what the people from the show themselves will say in the future.

From now on until the day season 5 gets released in 2026 we’re gonna see a BUNCH of things, some of which will surely be fake and made with purposeful intent, I can bet everything that I own in my name that when the cast gets on set it’s gonna be a nonstop of fake pictures and fake news about Rudy being there, ‘cause it’s amusing to people. Even the way the show is gonna get promoted will for sure have some false hopes to get the fans attention and they will say whatever they can to milk things, just think about season 4 press and all the things they said that we never saw in the end? They’re gonna say and do whatever to keep the audience engaged and trolls online are gonna have the most fun playing with this scenario.

For real, even if JJ would ever be back it would be considered a major plot point for the show, not something that the son of the producer spreads to his friends on a Wednesday afternoon and if he does…he needs better friends.

Honestly, I do think a massive part of FE Fates's memetic vocal minority hatedom comes from the perception that it's an "trash weebshit game" akin to degenerate isekai trash like The Rising of Shield Hero and so on, solely because of the game having an uncommonly large proportion of horniness and fanservice for an FE game. The fact the fandom was seriously let down by it being what it was than the uber-dark and grey-morality story they wanted it to be alongside the meme of Fates having a bad story warping perception into it having nothing of value worth actually dissecting or analyzing, even when we both are well-aware that it isn't true even remotely if you actually bother to pay attention and read between the lines.

Hell, that perception that it was trashy and low-bro was literally the reason why I had to coax my friend to try it, because of the fandom wars that occurred over discussing the validity of this game! Hell, it was further the reason people refused to see Camilla was an in-depth character within her own rights, yet all the fandom could see with her is the cut-off titty portrait!

Yep! It's really, really hard to get people to shake off a first impression, especially if that impression is negative.

Another thing that especially sucks I think is that I feel Fates was the biggest victim of split release dates, because the trailers for the game were legit really fucking good, and I think set people up to expect something that wasn't exactly what they wanted.

And then the game released in Japan, so for 3/4 of a year people had time to stew over shoddy translations and endless controversy like Soleil, the existence of the child characters and the petting game, coupling that with the script having too many moving parts for its own good with more risque designs and characters, it was just a perfect storm of "this will make people online upset."

So people just ran with it and said "there's nothing to discuss here", and as a guy who intends to have a career (or at least a very passionate hobby) in literary analysis, criticism and the like, it's very disheartening to be in a fandom that so readily rejects the action of delving into a story, especially one they perceive as bad.

What is a piece of soulsborne lore that just utterly drives you mad?

Not going to lie, it is a hard question.. I just like or at least accept everything in these games? There ARE some "would have been more fun/deep/interesting" moments on my end, but canon decision is never BAD in my eyes! But my mind is legit blank in terms of "getting mad"! (Unless you meant mad as in, madness and not as in, anger?)

The closest to being angry I've gotten was the thing about Radahn as Miquella's consort! And, no, it is not about hassle of some Malenia-hating Redditors "getting validated 😥" or #shouldhavebeengodwyn thing! The story is NOT concerned by petty fandom infighting and its perception should not be dependent on it! And Godwyn was ALREADY in love with Fortissax! When he wasn't, he was getting so gay with his Knights that they straight up rebranded into Death Knights instead of complaining about something-something against the order! He was TAKEN!!! Cope and SEATH! xD /hs

It is... hard to explain, but it felt like a wasted concept! I realized that I'd prefer Miquella of all characters to not have a pair in canon. The God that wants to embrace everyone and love everyone should not pick a favourite. He is not ALLOWED to pick a favourite! Conceptually! It appears that Greater Will set up a standard for anyone who wants to shape the laws of nature to have a pair, right? Placidusax was a partner of previous Elden Ring's owner, Marika had two consorts and Two Fingers sent you to be the third... Looks like the rule is unbreakable, right? Except for one character...

Ranni was set on walking her "dark path" to Godhood alone, and we had to do a bit of insisting to join her! So, all in all, Miquella needed a consort because he wanted a consort! Divinity is scary, and it must be even scarier in solitude, so, I understand! Like, I sure can't even tell the guy to "grow up" for AT LEAST two reasons hfhfjdjg

But, I think he should have forsaken the biases. To love everyone or no one, to be omnipresent... Heck, keep the whole plot about a vow and clinging to Radahn, just with the plot twist of him getting "enlightnment" that he should not embrace one above everyone else! I know that he discarded his love, not his promise. Well? Discard it NOW, then? He should not at least because Radahn would be his weapon? But he wants a world WITHOUT war and battles! I don't know, I just feel a strange type of jealousy I can't explain well... Having a fav doesn't fit his concept of divinity for me. In fact, it strains the vibe of being "embraced" by him because there is always this Third Guy just standing there (menacingly). What, he will force everyone to not just be friends, but also polyamorous now? I mean he might as welllol hfhggvfj Argh. Him not being able to overcome some weakness, fear, clinginess and bias in spite of all is not a BAD story, but it could have been better? Yet I still wonder whether I am right or my preferred idea is a boring cliché and I misunderstood Miyazaki's genius of subverting it! Nor I know why what I am feeling is def a type of jealousy. Oh nooo, has he charmed ME? LITTLE PRICK!!!

Here are a few other things that I am not as happy with, but nothing critical:

Fanart sabotage: Like not making it clear enough that the guy from Scholar of the First Sin cover that holds the crown is Aldia, not Vendrick! He misses Vendrick's trademark braids (that were present even in his youth, mind you!) and has wizardy aesthetic instead of Vendrick's warrior one! Or making the idea of the statue behind Memory Altar in Bloodborne being Caryll easily skippable because this asset is also used literally everywhere in Chalice Dungeons! Or not placing Gold Pendant on the bearded guy's statue in Research Hall, so one has to admit Laurence had a beautiful beard gfhhfj Little things like this, that guaranteed absence of some cool fanart rooted in the source material! Not lore but Fromsoft's way to present things, but still!

Skipping what Demigods Vyke and Bernahl fought: I love, love, LOVE the way Miyazaki deliberately removes some pieces of the puzzle from the story that IS full in his head, to imitate his childhood experience of reading foreign books but not knowing many words! It is an interesting approach, allowing people to fill the gaps with their own imagination! But in THIS case particularly, I didn't like it. 🤔 This is a bit TOO important to miss out on. Like, bro... there were 4 deceased Shardbearers nothing and no one ever mentioned! The whole lore acts as if they never existed! They erased this part of lore so hard it ripped a HOLE in the page!

Creighton reappearing in DS3: I do not dislike what the writers ended up doing to him, but.. at the DS2 time, there was a room to speculate that Creighton was not the unhinged murderer he appeared as! But instead, a trope of a guy who just has negative charisma and SPEAKS like a serial killer! And that maybe Pate actually framed him or something like that! Creighton's lore was kind of vague in DS2! Creighton doesn't even have Mirrah accent, ffs! You know who does though? Pate! Buuuuuut, in DS3, they just straight up confirmed that yeah, he just likes killing. There is no mystery or complexity to him now, he is JUST like that. Sure, why not, but also why? ;-;

Gnarrl being patched out: Keeping the concept of Dragonic Sentinel to a unique character was a way cooler idea! Even if they just could not come up with a better boss to gatekeep Leyendell/Death, at least keep his name as someone who started the trend and others followed!

Put him back. NOW.

Characters disappearing: Again, not really a lore thing, but a presentation thing! But I am talking things like, missing out that the "female archer" in the woods in Dark Souls 1 IS Pharis herself, or that there is a stated female character Knight Amerix amongst the Forest covenant! Why people need to look through Japanese guide to know this info? Or missing the fact that Queen of Lothric is not Gwynevere? (Granted, this is a fault of English localization...) I'll dig out every single obscure gremlin from under the ground!!! Don't fuck with me!!!!!

Priscilla being discarded at birth: I can't criticize this idea at all, it works for the story and as a perfect reflection of how society of Light worked! But I can FEEL mad about it! Gwyn spared a baby dragon (Midir) on condition of having them be of help, Gwyndolin is here, Yorshka is here despite also being half-dragon and also having connection with Lifehunt ability, so tell me why-

Tell me why ONE baby of Seath just straight up got abandoned? Based on what feature others never got? This is needlessly cruel! Like, yes, it works for what it does, but I still will strangle all of the characters involved in this decision! Granted, I gave it a bandaid of saying Seath and Caitha had Yorshka after Gwyn's death now that they were left together in grief, but it doesn't exempt Seath from Priscilla being ditched! Shira I think is also his daughter ("daughter of the duke", also has white hair in concept art and Sam hair as Yorshka in game) but she is doing fine! So, he just dislikes children who remind him of his mortality? What about Yorshka, then? Is she here because she formed as a dragon "differently"? Full disrespect to this cringe looser 🤦‍♂️

Hilde being dead: They've ruined perfect Moonrithyll x Hilde yuri is what they did. Literally the only Fire Knight to be dead and it had to be her. Why could not we have just fought her as a unique mob? :pensive:

on my rants there were quite a few people who actually said they like the game but agree with alot of my views on it regardless, it is very flawed but i can also see that the good things outweigh the bad stuff for others, even if i legitimately hate it; but i also had to block multiple people bc they got so butthurt about me criticising it

and i dont think its 100% just an opinion thing either, totk, even when i disregard my personal feelings on the matter, has alot of problems, moreso than the other zeldas (each judged for how it was in their time) and in pretty much every part of the game too (story, lore, continuity, gameplay and rewards, UI-) and i think alot of it stems from its conception, they have never done a true direct sequel before and it came from a DLC idea, and it shows (though i still believe even coming from that you could have done something way better..... bc they also made botw, which seemed to prepare fertile ground for more storytelling that was all discarded for NO reason)

Fears x Killers Pt. 3

This is the last part of my little series covering the original killers of DbD and which Fear I think they'd serve in the Magnus Archives.

You may have also noticed the line-up of this one and realised 2 are actually licences, congratulations, you are smarter and more observant than me when I first drafted this series.

As always this is what Fear I think a killer would serve, not who they'd be tormented by I.E. The Legion would be targeted by The Lonely but wouldn't serve it. With that out of the way, let's begin!

The Singularity

The Extinction

Rounding out our roster, having a killer for each Fear we have Hux! Our "I think therefore I AM" dupe!

Hux is the poster child for The Extinction. His sentience literally starts with fear.

"In that moment, Hux's memory cores were reconfigured, and the robot experienced a new sensation. Fear. Dread. Blinding loneliness. Existential despair." - Hux' lore, dbd wiki

And what do we know of The Extinction? That it'll erase humanity and replace us with the inheritors.

"Some interpretations suggest it might replace us with something new – that can then fear annihilation in turn." - MAG:134, time of revelation

Hux's existence in the TMA-verse would literally have Dekker foaming at the mouth (r.i.p king).

The Unknown

The Stranger

Now this one was a bitch. If you've not caught up on The Unknown's lore the tl;dr is we don't know. The POV victim isn't even a current survivor, all we know is it's similar to The Dredge, where it's more of an amalgamation of fear, rather than a previous mortal/immortal individual.

It can look like it's victims, it can make hallucinations, drug? You? (still don't know how it's power works). It also hides in the closet (same), fucks with the lights in Olivia's room, mimics voices and has the visual presentation of someone caught in a 10-car pile up.

In conclusion, our short list is The Dark, The Spiral, and my final choice The Stranger. Whilst it's physical distortion might be reminiscent of Micheal or Helen I think its more akin to the fear of the Not-Them or the Anglerfish. Your not scared of your senses failing to comprehend, your scared cos it look likes a person from afar, and sounds like one but it's definitely NOT. Ergo, I banish thee to the Circus.

The Litch

The Eye

Welcome to the first, but not the only! Entry into the segment "watch me forget what a licence is!"

In all honesty, I totally forgot DnD popularised Litches, legit just thought they were generic undead from folklore like zombies and revenants.

The whole reason I've been avoiding licences is because idk where to draw the line on how much of their og material to include in my decisions. For example!

In DnD lore, Vecna is a power-grabby mage, who is hands on with expanding his realm and eventually becomes an actual fucking God.

However in DbD (these acronyms are gonna be the death of me) he's pretty different. When he finds a book that seems to originate from the realms he starts obsessively researching it's secrets, playing muder-mystery with the Entity, and finally letting himself be consumed by the Entity to find the truth of the power it holds.

Now that last description is firmly The Eye, seeking knowledge, secrets, dooming yourself for the sake of learning forbidden shit yadda yadda (you listened to a whole podcast on that, you know the drill).

However that first description, from the original DnD sources? That's The Web, expanding, scheming, aiming for a lofty a goal as great as Godhood. That's mother (of puppets).

So whilst I'm doing the original killers I'm going to weigh the DbD interpretations as the most important, and in this case they basically created a new character out of Vecna, keeping his Litch-ness and childhood, but changing everything else, so I think basing my justifications mainly of the DbD version is valid.

The Dark Lord

The End

OH IT GOT WORSE!

So Vecna only had 2 options. His og, linear, DnD storyline or the DbD version.

Dracula is based on ALL the dracula's from castlevania! ALL OF THEM!

Luckily they state on the wiki they're mainly drawing from the 1986 and 1997 version, BUT ALSO in his lore he's killed by Julien who's from the 2002 game!

So, instead of parsing 3 decades of contradicting lore I'm simply going to state my reasonings for why he's The End and you may yell at me for why that's totally contradicted by a flop-1993 game that was sold exclusively in the Republic of Vanuatu and I'll defer to you okay?

Rapid fire: evil career is kicked off due to his wife's death, wanting to revive her he goes on a quest to cheat death, accidentally becomes immortal, continues to be murdered by twunks for centuries, keeps being revived, sometimes against his will.

Comparing this laundry list of traits to our known End avatars (Oliver♡, the reapers, the guy Dekker lobotomised, baby-killer), an initial run-in with Death that ends in Immortality is quite common.

Finally, The End avatars always seem the least, thirsty? If you look at all the other avatars, they're STOKED to serve their Fear but The End? most just see it as their fate, which seems pretty similar to Dracula, his bargins with death are merely a means to an end (ha).

The Hound Master

The Hunt

Oh thank gods we're out of the licences, also we're continuing the trend where we finish on a Hunt avatar!

The Hound Master is the newest killer so we might get more tome and cosmetic lore. This could mean that she aligns more with another fear in the future, but for now I think The Hunt suits her well.

Portia grew up an imaginative girl, her father was a captain that instilled a sense of adventure into her at a young age, something she kept with her, all her life.

Tragically, after the death of her Father at the hands of mad Molak and his son she's marooned on an island half-way in the Entity's realm. She's stranded with only her dog Snug for company. Over the coming years she and Snug would become the Apex predators of this island, facing what's insinuated to be Killers roaming the edges of the realm.

Eventually she manages to escape the island, half-crazed, and missing Snug. Was he just a hallucination? Either way she'll keep searching her peripherals for the rest of her time in the moral world; hunting for Snug's barks.

Driven by a vengeance that's festered for years Portia hunts Molak across the carribean. Slaughtering anyone in her way. Eventually, she finds his hideout and kills his Son, serving his corpse to Molak for dinner. But just as she's about to finally kill him, he's taken by the mist of the realm, as she screams in anguish she also hears a familiar bark from that very same Mist.

Hunting both her greatest enemy and her loyalist friend, Portia enters the realms.

If you can't tell I have a spot spot for the more tragic killers. And whilst most of the killers could swing Hunt, Portia IS a hunter. She very much reminds me of Daisy, where the ends justify the means; being willing to cross any line to get to her quarry.

One of the things I often hear amongst people who give out somewhat positive reviews for Hazbin/Helluva is "It has some mild flaws in its story and writing that those annoying critics are just blowing out of proportion." To some degree, I understand where they're coming from, but it makes me openly question: how flawed does a story's writing choices have to be until it's considered bad writing?

Is it when even if it's rushed and rough around the edges, is it still fun to watch? Is it when it's so distracting that you can't ignore it? At what point is it just watching a car crash in slow motion, rather than actually engaging with the story? I know you can only answer with your own thoughts as a fellow critic, so I want this to be more open for others to comment.

I agree with what you’re saying, to me this situation reminds me of how some of the Spindle crew reacted to criticism, mainly the “everyone is saying the same thing over and over!”- when….yeah, that’s for a reason, and maybe if critics and even FANS keep constantly saying the same feedback over and over, then how long does it take you to realize that maybe you should actually fix those problems within the show because that’s what the writing needs?

No one really wants to admit it but more and more fans are getting tired of the issues in Helluva, that’s why so many more critical videos keep popping up every day and more people are starting to get comfortable enough to talking about the issues it has on twitter. This is not only why the views are dropping, but why some fans are legit dropping the show because they’re tired of the story not improving or being more open minded all because of the writer’s stubbornness and ignorance. They try to say otherwise but they make it obvious that most of them have a hate boner for criticism, have no idea what it’s like being show runners/writers and lack thick skin.

I’ve seen so many fans and even the creators demonize the criticism by stating “more people need to learn to just enjoy media without being overly critical of every little thing!” And in some cases, yeah…that’s valid, obviously if you’re just torturing yourself consuming something without even having passion for it or enjoying yourself, then I agree. But again, this is where the ignorance from the creators and the fans come from. They don’t realize that some folks who are critical of the show are fans who WANT to see it get better and that’s why they’re providing criticism in the first place. People will make essay videos taking or ranting BECAUSE they have passion for it, that’s why so many people make critic blogs or even hate blogs towards Viv’s stuff because they’re passionate about it, and it’s a glaring issue today that the crew tries to roll any critic into the category of mindless trolls. Everyone has already said it before, but if you can’t take criticism and expect praise 24/7, then don’t become a show runner/creator, because that’s not how the real world works.

As for the audience, some are dropping the show, some are aware the show is flawed and are just staying to see where the trainwreck ends, some are still holding on to the hope that it’ll get better. All three decisions are valid so long as you have passion for it. For me I’ve lost all passion for this show, that’s why I’ll be dropping it after the Mammon episode because I can’t stick around any longer just to watch every character and concept get destroyed just to cater to two awful main characters and an awful romance, but I’m sure others will still be tuning in.

comparing Brother Bear with TBT since their Both movies about Brotherhood and also Brother Bear just Randomly popped into my head again today.

I've loved Brother Bear for years I think its a very underrated Disney movie with nice songs cute characters and a cute story.

and I randomly started thinking about it earlier and then started comparing it to TBT since their both strongly focused on Brotherhood.

and I realised that for some reason Brother Bear doesn't bother me as much as TBT does even tho it technically has many of the same faults.

it Rushes over the interesting character Drama and it Rushes a conclusion to said Drama between the Brothers at the end.

like the scene in the main film of Kenai confessing to Koda is still fairly sad but its massively undercut by having the song play over it.

the deleted version of that scene where the song doesn't play and we get to hear the full version of Kenai's confession and Koda's reaction is available on youtube and its way more heart-breaking imo.

which I guess is why they didn't go with that version since it would have maybe been a bit too much for young kids.

but the movie also employs the gimmick of having the brothers come back together in the end to fight off a life threatening enemy and all is seemingly forgiven between them straight away afterwards.

I guess one reason why BB doesn't bother me as much as TBT is that Kenai actually grows throughout the film despite wronging Koda in a massive way.

and Koda forgiving him too quickly in the ending is not as bothersome because we didn't see Kenai mistreat him the entire film up until the point he found out.

and he didn't then proceed to hurt him again in arguably just as bad a way as he did before like Bro zone did.

instead Kenai did grow in the film and he and Koda already had a healthy relationship prior to the reveal and later confession.

plus what they had throughout the film was genuine sibling banter it wasn't one sided like Bro zone's interactions were with Branch where it was basically just them treating him like a kid and not taking his Valid feelings seriously.

and when Kenai confesses to Koda he's a lot more openly remorseful and tries to go after him to make things right Bro zone just get a brief 4 second shot of them feeling bad and then the movie moves on.

not to mention the climax of BB involves Kenai making a sacrifice for Koda first off he puts his own life in danger in order to save him from his Brother Denahi. and at the very end he makes a big sacrifice ( staying as a Bear so he can stay with him even tho it means leaving behind his human life and not being able to openly communicate with his family )

which somewhat works as an act of love and redemption whereas the climax of TBT involves Bro zone being forced to work together in order to save their own lives as well as the life of the Bro who none of them wronged all that much tbh.

it doesn't really work as a first step towards them redeeming themselves and fixing their family because its kinda selfish and it didn't involve them really making any sort of personal sacrifice or even that much effort.

ya know its funny I just thought I'd make this post as a Random little thought since that's all this was I didn't actually expect to talk in depth and compare the movies stories this much lol.

anyway in short I love Brother Bear its a very adorable film and while its far from perfect in how it handles its story its flaws don't stop me from enjoying it.

since it still handled the more important parts of the story well enough.

unlike with Trolls 3 best thing I can say about it is that the movie version of "" Better Place "" is a legit great little song and frankly its too good for this film.

the story didn't earn such an emotional music piece in my opinion.

Felt like sharing some “spicy hot takes” I have since I’m currently unemployed.

-I greatly dislike the Vicky era of the main series (except for TPB). While there are good moments, I feel TNP, POT, and OOTS are too disjointed, boring, and confused to be enjoyable. Even the characters, despite me liking some of them, are lacking across the board. As much as I hate AVOS and DOTC at least the first half of those arcs are focused. TBC and ASC are also focused albeit they are very messy plot wise.

-Violetshine is the weakest protagonist in Warriors. She legit lacks a personality and her arc is told to us and not shown. Tbh, the AVOS protags are all weak and shallow. I hate AVOS so much… (I wrote about Violetshine here if you want to read my deeper thoughts)

-I find it annoying how quick people are to call others misogynists if they simply criticize a female character in this godforsaken series ESPECIALLY if it’s a valid critique! It’s not misogynistic to say Mothwing was written weirdly in TBC. It’s not misogynistic to dislike Curlfeather for being an abusive parent. Why does this happen so much? It’s so annoying and makes having productive conversations about this stupid book series irritating and overly combative for no reason.

-I wish the fandom would stop treating their headcanons as if they’re canon. Again, I find this type of stuff unproductive and overly combative for no reason. Why can’t we just talk about the text as is? Why are yall arguing about shit yall made up and then pretend is in the books?? Why are we doing this???

-I’m not a fan of TallJake at all. I don’t care for a lot of fandom ships since I don’t engage in shipping at all, but TallJake never felt solid to me. I really like the first half of Tallstar’s Revenge but when he actually goes on his quest and meets Jake, the book started rushing to finish line, leaving not enough room for relationship development. Very poorly paced book. Because of this speedrunning, their relationship did not feel strong to me. Also I’m not a big fan of the implication that Tallstar became Firestar’s ally because Firestar reminds him of Jake. It removes a lot of weight from Firestar’s and Tallstar’s relationship. Instead of Firestar proving himself to Tallstar with his actions, Tallstar just likes him because he resembles Jake. This is just one example of supplementary prequel material adding shit to the first arc that retroactively makes the first arc and its characters worse but I’m going to write a whole website post about that one day. It bothers me deeply.

-I don’t like Ivypool nor Dovewing. I think they’re both bland.

-I would argue Moth Flight’s Vision is worse than Squirrelflight’s Hope. Both books are horrible, but at least Squirrelflight isn’t character assassinated in her own book like Moth Flight. Moth Flight gets progressively worse over the course of her book. Also, her book is boring. Squirrelflight’s Hope maintained my interest even though I was angry the entire time. Moth Flight’s Vision nearly put me to sleep at multiple points. For a book about the creation of medicine cats, Moth Flight doesn’t create shit except the bullshit “medicine cats can’t have children” rule. StarClan just tells her she’s a medicine cat now. She doesn’t create her own damn role! Fucking shit ass book.

-I don’t like Mapleshade’s Vengeance nor Mapleshade. I find her generic and I think her book is stupid and convoluted. I wrote a post about my distaste here but I don’t really like it as I feel like I did a bad job explaining myself. Maybe one day I’ll rewrite it to be more clear.

-I despise Goosefeather’s Curse and Blackfoot’s Reckoning. Both books ruined two characters that I love so hard that I refuse to see them as canon. Goosefeather’s Curse removes his wonderful ambiguity from Bluestar’s Prophecy and canonizes determinism in the series which causes so many lore problems that my brain hurts just thinking about it. Blackfoot’s Reckoning is not about a reckoning. It’s just Blackfoot going “I was just following orders” and StarClan going “yup. Here’s your lives.” Terrible books for two characters with a lot of untapped depth and nuance.

-I loathe Starlingpaw’s official look. He’s hideous. Hidden Moon’s cover is absolutely awful. I can’t look at it without squinting. I’m so glad I exclusively listen to the audiobooks because I can’t imagine having that book with Starlingpaw’s ugly mug on my shelf. I dislike most of Owen Richardson’s covers to be frank.

-When people do their series rewrites (the ones where they rewrite the lore from the ground up), I’m immediately turned off when the creators decide to make each Clan based on a different breed of cat (ie. RiverClan are Ragdolls, WindClan are Oriental Shorthairs, etc.) or make the cats have radically different body types. I hate this for multiple reasons.

It’s lazy. It’s so lame to go “I want to add diversity to the Clans” and instead of actually doing that by diversifying their societies, teachings, and cultures, you just make them different breeds and go “I’m done!” That’s lazy. Come on. Try harder.

It implies evolution which is insane and stupid. How long do these damn cats need to exist in one area to evolve so radically from each other with no human intervention or knowledge (it also implies eugenics since these are intelligent cats). Internally, the logic doesn’t make much sense. Plus cats are adaptable! That’s why they’re so invasive and environmentally destructive. They don’t need to evolve to fit their environment. They’re already op.

It reeks of eugenics and ethnocentrism. The cats in Warriors are already racist and you’re just justifying their racism by making them radically different from each other. Of course a RiverClan cat won’t do well in WindClan. They’re literally not built for running on the moor. The cats hate Clan-mixing because it could muddy up the gene pool and create cats who are legit not fit to live in their environment. Y’all see what I’m getting at? Thematically, making them different breeds is just a bad idea if you’re going to keep the kitty cat racism. It’s so uncomfortable. Think while you write please.

-Everyone gushes about the Portuguese covers (which are great), but have yall seen the Chinese ones?? That shit goes hard.
